Why did Sen. John Cornyn (R) TX say that Rush & Newt are wrong for calling Sotomayor a racist?

You can’t even play the “true conservative” card on a Republican senator from Texas.

Don’t you people get it? The Republican party is not Rush and Newt and Cheney. They’re the ones who are wrong. They are the ones who are going to need to get out of the party. Not McCain or Powell.

Its over for Rush. Rush is wrong.

  3. The better question is: When will Senator John Cornyn be on his knees apologizing to Rush and begging forgiveness?

    Answer: Within 24 hours if he knows what’s good for him.

  4. The Republican party needs to stay away from Rush, Hannity and Cheney if they are to survive.

    People aren’t nut cases. They are practical and rational. That’s why Obama won.

  5. Because, unlike many in here, Cornyn actually cares about the state of his party, his beliefs, and the fact that the GOP is quickly sounding like all of the things most Americans are against. Just today, Limbaugh again called Sotomayer a racist, and claimed that she is just like David Duke. The Reagan’s greatest confidant and speech writer wrote a WSJ post today, telling Repbulicans to ‘grow up’. Most in here and on talk radio and Fox won’t listen, to their own detriment.

  6. Because a reasonable person knows it is ridiculous to assume a people is a racist based on a sentence in a speech from 8 years ago.

  8. Rush and Newt and Cheney are three people (three public figures) stating their opinion, as they have the right to do, whether you like it or not.

    They do not need to “get out of the party” because YOU disagree with their opinion.

    And a couple of “thumbs down” doesn’t change the fact that they have the RIGHT to state their opinion just as you do.

  10. Alot of Republicans are saying that it should be stopped. They should respect the constitution and act like Americans. I hope it works, but the republicans can be stubborn.

  11. They know this racist rhetoric is going to hurt their party for 2010. Regardless Sonia is probably going to be confirmed.
