Which is more detrimental to the respective leading presidental candidates…?

(1) Today’s statement by Phil Gramm (former Senator from Texas, Ph.D. in Economics, and economic advisor to John McCain) calling Americans “a nation of whiners” and saying that Americans are in a “mental recession”; or

(2) Today’s statement by Jesse Jackson that Barack Obama is “talking down to black people” and that he wants to cut Obama’s (crude term for testicles) out.

?

Bonus questions: is America a nation of whiners? Is Obama talking down to black people?

  1. Since Phil ‘Mental Recession’ Gramm is actually a trusted advisor to McCain in his campaign while Jackson is not in a similar position on Obama’s campaign, obviously Gramm’s comment is more damaging to McCain than Jackson’s is to Obama.

  2. Gramm was out of line. My area has been hit economically and also by several bad storms I don’t hear anyone whining. Well he can say its mental recession but we are definitely in something,a slump? A slowdown? Regardless too many loss of jobs is always bad, combined with high prices on every thing you buy is gonna hurt not help. Why shouldn’t we complain? We the people had no clue, and still don’t really know what to expect. As far as obama who knows? I didn’t think so. Jesse jackson should learn to be more quite.
