Is the current administration polarizing America to the point of making the secessionist movement popular?

Texas and Vermont are states that recently come to mind. According to Resistnet.com more and more states are finding that their Constitutional Rights are being challenged by the Obama administration and are taking steps to counteract it.

Already, 9 states: Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan,
Missouri, Oklahoma, California, and Georgia have all introduced bills and resolutions declaring sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment. 12 others: Colorado, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Alaska, Kansas, Alabama, Nevada, Maine, and Illinois are considering such measures. Of course, the citizens of each state would have to ratify the bill, just as they would have to vote to join the Union.
In fact, the Founding Fathers included the 9th and 10th amendments to give relief to the people from an excessively over-bearing, or dictatorial government. I believe some some of the States are considering seceding because of the trillion dollar “Generational Theft Act” which is presently being debated in the Senate.
This is not a right versus left question because most of the states that want to secede are left leaning states. Explain Vermont, New York/Long Island, Michigan, Illinois??? You lefties do not like conservative policies and want to have a living constitution that changes with the wind and Conservatives want to stick with the constitution we have and do not believe it needs to be changed. We like freedom of speech, the right to bear arms and we do not want LBJ’s or FDR’s tired old policies!

  1. It isnt the current administration in any way. It is Fox, MSnbc, etc… that are polarizing. That is corporate influence/propaganda for a greater purpose that suits all of the elites.

  2. There is no right to succession. The Civil War settled this pretty definitively. The word for what you’re talking about is “treason,” and it’s not supported by the 10th Amendment or any other law.

  3. I think anyone who proposes removing stars from the flag, is an anti-American moron….

I think most people would agree with me on that, which would nullify your assertion that secession could be popular enough to actually happen.

….if Texas or Hawaii hasn’t done it yet…It’s probably not going to happen.

  4. Wow, no, when we get another old white man as president everything will be okay. Your rights will still be taken away, but at least a white person will be doing it. Seriously, it’s all about racism. News flash, your rights have always been under fire and in jeopardy. Don’t believe me, google Infragard. This is just one in a long line of bend over America, and NO, we aren’t gonna use vaseline!! The country is built on corruption.

  5. Interesting thing is what people want to “secede” to is…… OUR CONSTITUTION !!!!

People aren’t looking to “overthrow” the American federal government…. they’re looking to EMBRACE IT.

It would be VERY interesting to see how a “revolution” would be treated in the courts when there is no attempt to subvert the Constitution, but to PROTECT it.

  6. Yes, I think the federal government is destroying this country and making secession more and more appealing. Unless something drastically changes I don’t really expect the 50 united states to remain united more than another 20 years. Perhaps it is a good thing as it will free the liberals from fighting the conservatives and vice versa. It could be a very educational thing to observe.

  7. No. Conservative media is doing the polarizing. I haven’t seen any overtures for bipartisan from conservatives since Obama’s inauguration. They refuse to budge from any of their positions yet claim Democrats are the ones being staunchly partisan. Conservative media has been playing up this divide, trying to convince people who aren’t completely conservative to go with want they want anyway by trying to portray liberals as being even more extreme.

  8. I’d vote for it.

The south already has 1 extra president in our history. Good old Jefferson Davis. This isn’t a southern vs. northern thing though., would be hilarious if all 50 states succeeded from the union. Haha. ,

  9. No, but it is making people think. The far left wing has a very small percentage of Americans as believers, regardless what you hear from the liberal media, and will be humbled in the next election or two. Any movement now is retaliation for the present administrations disregard for the Constitution.

  10. Making a statement like yours (or repeating it from a conservative source which is more likely) is what is polarizing America.

The war about States Rights vs. Federal Rights was fought and won by the United States of America back in 1865.

  11. You know I think it is getting more popular. As to any actual secessions taking place. I don’t know. But if anyone could divide the country enough to bring it about. Obama would be the one.

  12. The highhanded arrogance and actions not only of the current President (who oddly continues to refuse to be open and transparent about his citizenship) but also the other two branches are indeed raising a large number of legitimate concerns across the country. However, I am not aware of any of the States proposing actual seccession. Some individuals, perhaps, but there’s always people who want something different. What the States are doing is asking that their rights be protected under the Constitution as is proper. The People have the right to demand this from their States and also from their Federal representatives (or vote the bums out of office!). There was a brief suggestion recently that Hawaii be given its sovereignty back in exchange for keeping BO on the islands, but they didn’t want him either. The people have the right however to secede as was pointed out in the Declaration of Independence, “…That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends [to protect the rights and liberties of the People], it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government… to effect their Safety and Happiness”. In the end, it is up to us, the People, to preserve our Rights and Liberties, or to lose them. We don’t need to secede to do that–yet.

  13. This is nothing new, just worse than usual. States are not going to secede, they are going to finally get some 10th amendment cases in front of the US Supreme Court. The Court will hack back the encroaching Federal Jungle a little and life will go on. The best thing which could happen is of 35 States get together and repeal the 17th amendment so U.S. Senators would again represent the interests of States as our Founders intended.
