OK, so he’s not much of a senator, but his Help Wanteds are awesome
Legions of aspiring lettuce-pickers are responding from around the country, including Alaska and Hawaii, to Senator John McCain, who, the Associated Press reported, offered anybody in a Michigan crowd "$50 an hour to pick lettuce in Arizona."
Over 3000 have responded so far, many, bless their lettuce-pickin’ hearts, also contributing a much-needed $2 or $12 or whatever. (When you read some of the applications, you get a sense of just how precious those contributions are—both in terms of some of the respondents’ financial situations, and in terms of the 28 million lobbyist dollars the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent last year squashing the voice of the American voter.)
If you would like to get in on the opportunity to pick lettuce for a U.S. senator, don’t delay. We want to hand-deliver these job applications as soon as Congress returns from their junkets over Easter excess. We don’t want to keep the senator waiting; who knows how badly his lettuce needs picking?
Even if, for some reason, you’ll need to pass up the chance to pick a senator’s lettuce, it’s worth reading the applications.
If you are a U.S. senator, they are epecially worth a read, because, you know, you’ll have to face one of those stupid vote things again when you get back from Thailand.
Worse, the vote will likely be about immigration, and you know how nerve-wracking those can be. The Party pulling this way, the constituents flooding your office with faxes pulling that way and causing members of an overworked staff to snap at one another—even to tear up and rush indecorously from the room.
Worst, that intolerable advertising man from Texas, Karl Rove, will be hanging around screeching at everyone that you all hate brown people.
Do yourself a favor, Senator, spend an hour or two reading these job applications from real people. They will make it crystal clear where your duty lies (and give you the ammunition necessary to send Rove scurrying).
Who say’s jobs Americans won’t do ?, the Mexican Lovers in our Government. that’s who.

mexicans come over here now days with a job waiting for them in construction,their cousin or uncle or somebody that has been here illegally for a while and sent them money to catch a bus.All they have to do is get across the border and catch a ride to the bus station.There is a bus from Texas that comes to Raleigh NC once a week with a busload of them,they get off at an area that has about 4 or 5 mexican businesses.Then their connection comes and picks them up and lets them stay in their apartment with about 10 other mexicans.They split the expenses so it doesn’t cost anything to live here, except for their corona beer and their pickup truck.They have started driving new trucks lately, with a fake drivers liscense, or a drivers liscense they got with fake social security.They are doing quite well here in NC.About 80% or 90% of the workers on construction jobs are mexicans now, the majority of them illegal.They have driven wages down so low that American construction workers can’t make a living anymore.I know of many, many American guys who have done construction all their lives who have quit or are barely hanging on .We used to frame a house with 5 guys in 6 days, they put 10 or 12 mexicans on the job and do it in 4 days.All the bricklayers here used to be black, now they are all Mexicans because they put 20 illegal mexicans out there laying bricks.Yes they are good workers but the Americans were good workers too until we had to work for peanuts. Pick lettuce?These Mexicans ain’t going to pick no lettuce when they can do construction work.

Tim…Me and hubby own a roofing and remodeling business so i know what you are talking about..they drive the wages down so low we cant compete with them.illegals…a roof that would normally pay $3000 go’s to an illegal for $800 who can compete with that…we cant pay insurance and tax’s and wages on that…but people sure are willing to hire an illegal to put a sh*tty roof job on their roof…a new roof should last years depending on the weather but if a illegal put the roof on your are sure to get a new roof in a years time…see it all the time…

I live in AZ and its what McCain is doing but he also favors amnesty and there he and I have a big problem.Hes a good man,an honest man.But no to amnesty for any illegal from any nation.
