   I imagine a long time. The spirit and attitude and general feeling in Texas is the federal government should stay out of my business. They are independent and for smaller government and those things are just not ideals the Democratic party or liberals like. Dems tend to like more government, more government intervention in people’s lives, more taxes, just doesn’t go with the independence of texas.

   My personal opinion is how could someone not want smaller government since the government has proven itself incompetent over and over again with every program it runs. Also, I dont’ knwo how anyone would want the government to get involved in their life and their choices.

    this election could change. i am a TEXAN and proud of it and i am voting OBAMA . i made the mistake of voting McCain in my states primary and now that he has picked that idiot palin for a running mate i dont want anything to do with him (plus reading all the desperate smear on Y&A from mccain supporters) helped me make up my mind. if republicans are that scared of OBAMA,then he must be doing something right.

    The liberals above me are filled with jealousy. They smear Texas because it is self sufficient. You won’t see Texas asking the Federal Government for a bailout because we failed to control our spending. Maybe more states should follow the lead of Texas and have LESS government intervention. We aren’t going to vote Democratic BECAUSE WE ARE NOT STUPID.

    This is a good question and I hope someone provides an accurate link. I asked a similar question a while back, "What happened to the South after LBJ was President," LBJ had clout in the south. Sadly it seems it has something to do with the fact that LBJ’s push for voting rights for minorities was not viewed as a good thing by many!
