Has Texas ever voted democratic in a presidential election?

When Kennedy was elected, Lyndon Johnson was from Texas. That is often said to be the last time a VP choice swung a major state. Then LBJ became President. The last time Texas went Democratic was in 1976, for Jimmy Carter.

Sure it has. The South used to be solidly Democratic, starting back during the Civil War.

Yes, they voted for Lyndon B. Johnson then switched because they considered him a traitor because he supported the Civil Rights Movement.

Texas was a solid Democratic state until Reagan turned the south Red in 1980. You won’t find an election where the Republican won Texas before that.

Oops. Except Nixon vs. McGovern in 1972.
