Texas’ Republican House Speaker told a radio station (KLBJ am) that he was open to raising the gasoline tax — of which 40% is already diverted to non-road purposes. That’s not the first-step position a conservative leader takes in dealing with an issue.

First they need to stop diverting gas tax away from the roads. I wish we had a few statesmen in Austin, rather than this bunch of “can’t do” politicians.
