   If you know the context of the ad, sure.
   Otherwise, some people might actually be tricked into SUPPORTING the Republicans.

   That emotive language “Heart and soul of the Republican party”.

   It may be a clever ad, and there are people to whom this ad will appeal, however, there are also more low-brow voters, so to reach them, you need to think on their level of humour/politics.
