If the Democratic candidate was white, would the party win in a landslide victory ?

Seems to me that the country is tired of the republican party but hesitant to vote in a black president. Do you think if a white person such as Al Gore would have ran, the democratic party would win in a landslide victory ?
For everyone thinking I’m racist.. I’m part hispanic and black. The reason I bring this is up is that it seems odd that the year that the republicans and seem backed in to a corner, the two weakest (in popularity) types of candidates were chosen. A minority and a woman.

If people vote for the President based solely on race than what does that say about this country? Gore is as big as a moron as Obama. Obama has no strategy, he is nothing more than a smooth talking speech maker. Remember Obama is half white, so the half white candidate is not qualified as well.

I think you are exactly right, people are down on their a$$ financially and anyone with half a brain knows that the republicans controlled the White House, The Congress and The Senate and now they have captured the Congress and Senate back but Bush has vetoed anything the put up their. But here is Louisiana they hate for blacks trumps poverty, they think that with McCain will continue the slide downward for four more years, but then maybe we will get a white man after that and he will bring it back like Clinton did after Reagan/Bush. They think the country will survive all of our businesses bankrupting and banks failing, I strongly disagree.

    It isn’t that Obama is black that is the problem… (And he isn’t "Black" he is half AFRICAN and half WHITE and raised in Hawaii where ‘blacks’ are not the repressed minority… The Island Natives are… So he doesn’t have an "Entitlement Complex" like the ‘blacks’ of the continental US…)

    Up until this election… Um… IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN OLD WHITE MEN ON BOTH SIDES!

    Being old and white didn’t guarantee the dem’s election in the past… Why the hell would it be different now?

  13. Gore and Kerry didn’t. I expected both of them to win. A lot of democrats want to begin drilling for oil. Obama is against it. A lot of people don’t think Obama has the right slant on foreign relations with the Middle East. People actually do vote on other issues besides skin color.

    The Democrat Congress has guaranteed a close race because of their complete and utter failure to have accomplished a single thing they were voted in to do and their continuing missteps and deaf ear to people seeking relief from high energy costs.

  17. This is an ignorant question and some of the answers like therealmadea (a true lameazz answer) are just plain stupid. What does race have to do with electing the President of the United States? The facthat Obama is inexperienced makes is his major fault. Democrats are liberal and tax increasers, so is Obama. If that is what you want then vote for him. His weak foreign policy and vow to pull out of Iraq will gaurantee bloodshed from terrorists on american soil. Your vote.
