In 2006, Thaksin Shinawatra, the prime minister of Thailand and one of the country’s most influential figures, was removed from power in a military coup, throwing the Thai political system into crisis. This month, Samak Sundaravej, the new prime minister elected to replace Thaksin, was ordered by the Thai Constitutional Court to resign for hosting a cookery show on TV. This followed weeks of protests by the People’s Alliance for Democracy, which was trying to force the pro-Thaksin prime minister to resign. Sir David Frost speaks to Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democratic Party, Thailand’s main opposition party, about the state of Thai politics and how the present crisis can be resolved.

he is now prime minister . I hope he is brave enough to sole the problem of Thailand ‘s sovereinty being invaded by Combodia. Thailand has already lost some piece of land to Cambodia.
@lullesusse But in 80 numbers has no proof to see that military shot ?? But Dr. thaksin he killed people by his policy(Anti-Drugs) and he has no Responsibility to Thai innocent people the number is 1800
more than people to burn city for his own beloved Bangkok !!!
Asshole !!!
I think he perpare for interview with good information and No Errr ??? Ahhh??? all the conversation.
He has proven to be the worst for Thailand in decades and still choose to rule without a fair open election after murdered 80 and injured 1500 of his own people – poor Thailand and poor majority poors that never wanted either the Junta or him!
We are who educated people still support PM Abhisit. He is the another good one of our PM. We are proud of him. He is bad luck he come in the power in the same time of exiled former PM still want to revenge. We feel sad for him. Do not give up, Abhisit.

a real good man.
Abisith, became you my HERO!!!
They show us, how patience and calm waive the violent protest können.
Much can do
you have to listen to his speech answering about lese majeste law to Giles Ungpakorn, the dual passport holder(Thai,UK) who has been trying to demolish majeste law and fled to England, his mother’s country.
Very well said ! He won my heart and Giles Ungpakorn shoudn’t come back to Thailand as he considers him self half chinese(thai) half english.
Long Live The King and god bless Abhisit!!!
The best PM we’ve ever had in years. Period.
“researching on his background” is your quote. Clean up your English.
You make some very good points there,PPP should have looked elsewhere rather than looking to Thaksin, but maybe there is not a big enough figurehead to have in his place.
lol @ his red socks
PPP was unbelievable. Couldn’t they find someone that was unrelated to Thaksin that could still serve their party’s interests? Or were their interests so vertically integrated with Thaksin’s agenda?
Either way, I’ll give Abhisit a chance, but I hold ALL government officials with a great deal of suspicion. I hope the people don’t just blindly follow him like Thaksin’s supporters did.
Cheer Up !! Abhisit
)
You can be a great PM. Prove it to the people of Thailand. Prove to them that you’re not like that liar Thaksin who uses Thai people for his personal benefits!
P.M. Vejjajiva, we hope f
