fyi I am 17 & live in Texas.
Now the child pornography laws were originally created to protect little kids from being explioted to basement dwelling pedophiles. But these laws were created as strong blanket laws as not only the no good pedophiles were getting arrested but teen couples messing around on their phones were also getting arrested & charged with the same thing.
These teen sexing laws make me sick. I view the creators/supporters of these laws no differently than how you view the nazis.
I’ve engaged in sexting before & if I was caught my life would be completely over. I wouldn’t see the light of day again.
Who made these laws? when were they made? does anybody know the names of the sadistic draconian congressmen who thought it would be a good idea to put teens behind bars for life for seeing their boyfriend/girlfriend naked on the phone?

There are no laws directly involving sexting. The laws are about child porn. If the picture is child porn the delivery method is irrelevant.
I’m from a country where no such laws exist, so I have no idea who created them in America, nor would they effect me if they did exist in my home country.
But you seem to only oppose the laws because you partake in such activities. Perhaps you should imagine yourself on the other side. Do some research and try to understand WHY the laws were introduced, then you might accept them and see their benefit.
As you should already know, Congress makes the laws and they are signed by the President or if its a state law, your state Congressmen make the laws signed by the Governor. However, I live in Texas and I am not familiar with any laws that deal with sexting. I know of people who got in trouble at my school for sending naked pictures over their cell phones, but thats it. I’m a teacher.
These laws were made as they are the moral standard as decided by the community or the people who live in the area that the law was written. They are established to attempt to prevent immature children from participating is sex. As you may or may not realize, 40% off all children today are born to single moms, and in Texas alone, 65% of African-American newborns are born to single moms.
All over the world there are laws based on age. Driving, voting, curfew and drinking laws just to give you a few examples. I can see why you feel you are being unfairly treated and the answer is “because you’re a kid”. When you grow up, you won’t have to deal with these laws.
Your dramatics and pity party antics are commendable but they won’t fly in a court of law. Just remember, if you do the crime, then be prepared to do the time.
While you think you and your gf are of age, the law doesn’t and didn’t ever agree with you.
Its not just little kids, its teens too. Teen girls can be pressured into doing things they don’t want to by their boyfriends, who don’t always act like gentlemen when the romance is over. Teen boys can too, especially in homosexual encounters, where they wouldn’t want it to get out.
The premise behind statutory rape laws is to keep youngsters from making decisions that they aren’t ready to make.
You say you are aware that if caught your life’s plans could be over, in this age of the computer where everything out there never goes away, why would you take that chance just to see a naked gf?
That’s bad judgment, you know the consequences and you do it anyway. You really want your picture given to the college you apply to? Or the big job you really want twenty years down the road?

You say if you were caught your life would be completely over. Do you think only the people you want to see nude views of you are the only people who will see them? No one else has the discretion regarding who should see them that you do. That is why the laws were passed, because you don’t see the danger anymore than a six year old would. This is what is wrong with the eighteen year old vote. You are a year away and don’t see any harm in sexting. There are predators out there waiting for you. You have no idea who is salivating over your image right now. All of the viewers are not someone you would like or someone you would pose for.
