House speaker not offended by Bachmann’s plan to rebut Obama
WASHINGTON — While Rep. Michele Bachmann’s plan to deliver her own rebuttal to President Barack Obama’s prime-time address to the nation tonight has created a stir in the blogosphere, it apparently hasn’t rankled the top Republican in the House of Representatives.

Is this not just a little hypocritical….?

“I’ve never voted for an earmark in my life,” the Texas congressman said under questioning on NBC’s “Meet the Press” about reports that he has requested hundreds of millions of dollars for special projects in his home district.

“I put them in because I represent people who are asking for some of their money back,” said Paul, who likened it to taking a tax credit. “I’m against the tax system, but I take all my tax credits. I want to get their money back for the people.”

I can kind of see his point, but if he’s not going to vote for other earmarks, why even put them in legislation?
Isn’t it about time that ALL earmarks are forced to be voted on individually, and not used as bribes to get legislation passed, or hidden in defense funding bills, or transportation bills, or others?
jneg7:
Who said anything about the Line Item Veto? All I said was let the “earmarks” be put into their own, stand alone legislation.
jessica:
That makes it even worse. Either you support the “earmarks” or you don’t. By attatching them to bills he doesn’t vote for, shows that he doesn’t care one way or another. He’s trying to have it both ways. “I brought home this money for a nursing school, of to promote Texas shrimp” , then on the other hand he says “I’ve never voted for an earmark in my life”. AGAIN, put these earmarks in stand alone legislation and see if they can get passed.
jessica, so you’re saying that adding earmarks not associated with the original bill is fine as long as you don’t vote for your own earmark? That’s rediculous.

Ron Paul supporters… did you know this? Time to write FOX news.?

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – According to the New Hampshire State Republican Party and an Associated Press report, Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul will be excluded from an upcoming forum of Republican candidates to be broadcast by Fox News on January 6, 2008.

“Given Ron Paul’s support in New Hampshire and his recent historic fundraising success, it is outrageous that Dr. Paul would be excluded,” said Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Dr. Paul has consistently polled higher in New Hampshire than some of the other candidates who have been invited.”

Snyder continued, “Paul supporters should know that we are continuing to make inquiries with Fox News as to why they have apparently excluded Dr. Paul from this event.”

PLEASE write Fox news
yourcomments@foxnews.com
Make sure you put your question in the subject line
“Why aren’t you including Dr. Ron Paul in your Jan 6th Republican forum?”

yes… Thomas S. you’re right: please do not be rude or obnoxious in your emails. Tell them why you believe in Ron Paul and tell them he should be included in the forum. People already think he and his supporters are too extreme, so don’t sound crazy even though this is a very frustrating event. I bet they thought the founding fathers were crazy fighting the British too, right?
